In today’s fast-paced work environment, the importance of mental health and psychosocial well-being cannot be overstated. At Sod, we recognise that a truly productive workplace is one where employees feel psychologically safe, supported, and empowered to bring their whole selves to work.

The THRIVE Initiative

Recently, our team leads participated in the THRIVE psychosocial management training program in collaboration with our valued client, Neami National. This comprehensive training represents a significant step in our ongoing commitment to fostering a workplace culture that prioritises mental health alongside professional growth.

What is THRIVE?

THRIVE is a Training Hub for Readiness and Inclusive Vocational Engagement.

THRIVE Employer offers organisations an opportunity to create an inclusive and psychologically safe environment for people with mental health challenges and psychosocial disability in the workplace.  They assess workplace needs via an all-staff Psychosocial Survey, discussing results with you prior to defining your unique training package. This package is delivered via e-learning modules, workshops and provision of a Psychosocial Safety Guide for your continued use.

At the conclusion of the program, a subsequent all-staff Psychosocial Survey is circulated to identify improvements made and topics still to address.

“The training has equipped our leadership team with practical strategies to recognise and respond to psychosocial needs within our teams. It’s about creating an environment where everyone can truly thrive.” Christian Fish, Director

Our six-pillar approach to psychosocial wellbeing

The Sod Psychosocial Program is built on six fundamental pillars designed to create a holistic approach to workplace mental health:

1. Reducing mental health stigma:

By encouraging open conversations about mental health, we’re working to eliminate the stigma that often prevents people from seeking help when they need it most.

2. Creating a safer work environment:

We’re implementing structures and practices that actively mitigate psychosocial risks while providing meaningful support to employees facing mental health challenges.

3. Empowering through awareness:

Our team members are being trained to recognise early signs of mental health needs—both in themselves and their colleagues—and respond appropriately within the workplace context.

4. Supporting sustainable employment:

We’re committed to creating pathways for the sustainable employment of individuals experiencing psychosocial disability or mental health challenges, recognising the unique value and perspective they bring.

5. Establishing communication frameworks:

Clear communication and constructive conflict resolution are essential components of a healthy workplace. Our program provides employees with practical frameworks to navigate these aspects of workplace dynamics.

6. Facilitating access to professional support:

While we’re enhancing our internal support systems, we also recognise the importance of professional mental health services. Our program improves access to these external resources when needed.

Creating space for authentic expression

At the heart of our psychosocial health initiative is a commitment to creating spaces where employees feel safe to express their creative ideas and share their workplace experiences. We understand that innovation flourishes when people feel psychologically secure enough to take risks, voice unconventional ideas, and provide honest feedback.

“What’s particularly exciting about this program is seeing how improved psychosocial health directly translates to more creativity and innovation across teams. When people feel supported, they’re more willing to share ideas and think outside the box.” Christian Fish, Director

Looking forward

As we continue to develop and refine our psychosocial program, we invite all employees to participate actively in shaping a workplace that supports both professional success and personal well-being. The best workplaces are those where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work daily.

We extend our sincere thanks to Neami National for their partnership in this important initiative.
